…with HILARIOUS results. Trust me on this one.
Welcome back to Monday Merriment, y’all. I’ve recovered from averaging four-and-a-half hours of sleep during Best-of-’14 week last week, and am now only slightly out of it going into the Christmas holiday. Nothing a few glasses of eggnog and coffee won’t be able to fix, at least.
Anyway, speaking of Christmas things, have I got a good one for you today. Now the song I’m sharing for today’s Merriment is actually about eight years old (the video was only uploaded about seven years ago), so most of you will have already seen it by now. However, not being much of a Twisted Sister fan—or in fact, even aware that Twisted Sister existed past the year 1987—it was entirely new, and thus freshly hilarious, to me. So all that said, let’s go back and revisit the band’s attempt at…a Christmas song? Humor? Existence?…”Heavy Metal Christmas”
So this is from the band’s 2006 album, A Twisted Christmas—which, yes…is for better or worse, a thing—and even more than the hilariously lame “12 Days of Christmas” parody that is the song, what gets me here is how goddamn BORED the band looks. Dee Snider can barely be bothered to sing outside a medium register, and the other guys in the band…well, the less said about them, the better. In sum: they look every bit the late-50s/early-60s aging rockers they are.
Anyway, check it out and see if you can make it past the 2:45 mark. That’s all I could suffer through before tapping out.
