So I’ll be honest, today’s #tbt post was totally going to be about something completely different. For once, I’d come across a tweet from @ThisDayInMetal that *gasp* actually described something that happened in the past: the premiere of Metallica’s infamous video for “One” on MTV, which happened 26 years ago today. That’s kind of a cool anniversary, I’ll admit. Plus, I was super into the song as a kid—I still am, but what I mean here is that it was one of…probably my five most formative listens as a budding metalhead—so going back and revisiting it would surely give me all the feels.
But in the end, I decided to scrap it, because RUSH ANNOUNCED TOUR DATES FOR THEIR UPCOMING NORTH AMERICAN TREK. And really, nothing Metallica related could ever trump the holy triumvirate from up north in my book. So with that in mind, let’s do Rush things!
In anticipation of what will be my third time seeing Messrs. Lee, Lifeson and Peart, I’ve elected to celebrate this week’s Throwback Thursday with a look back to 1978. Gather round, kids—let’s watch the video for the classic, “La Villa Strangiato”
Good lord. What a song, what a band, what an…everything. June 27 cannot get here soon enough. (Yes, I’ll be doing the Newark show. Because Saturday night shows >>> Monday night shows. And because fuck MSG.)
Anyway, that’ll do it for this week’s #tbt. Check back later on for some new reviews, our usual Quickies and more!
