Aside from our very rigid fitness regimen the rules over at Nine Circles are pretty simple. We like a staff that enjoys music, wants to spread that love to other people and, most importantly, has a deeply entrenched love for the band Enslaved. Hell, I met Corey (the Literati Overlord) for the first time at an Enslaved show. So when Enslaved turns twenty-five we stop and take pause. Few bands have put out the absolutely massive catalog that they have. The band has put out fifteen full-lengths (ok, one was a split with Emperor), toured the world many times over and attended many a North American hockey game. So what is the band doing to celebrate? Follow the jump to find out.
For starters, a band’s gotta eat. So Enslaved has branded a bunch of “Enslaved25” Merchandise for sale at their brand new webstore. This includes a bunch of previously discontinued items from albums as early as their debut Yggdrasill. Enslaved also launched a brand new official website that celebrates their history as well as the future to come (because obviously they aren’t even close to done).
The boys are also packing up the van and hitting the road with a few commemorative shows in at London’s “byNorse.” Enslaved will meet up with Wardruna and Nordic supergroup Skuggsjá. It’s all a cheesy celebration of a band that has worked their buns off struggling the metal struggle to continue making the music they wanted to make. And, cheesy as it is, we at Nine Circle love it, respect it and want to be a part of it.
So, if you’re lucky enough to be in London check out some of those dates. If you’re elsewhere in the world then look for Enslaved to expand their tour shortly and play a town near you. I can tell you from experience that Enslaved is fantastic live and usually plays a wide selection of their catalog. LONG LIVE ENSLAVED.
