Pink Mass hail from New Jersey but you wouldn’t know it from their music. It’s more likely that they hail from the hedonistic under laid of hell where they fellate Satan in an effort to keep the world unbalanced. Their new album Slvt Kvlt is available now on Horror Pain Gore Death Productions. I urge you to check out their album, truly enjoy yourself and then get your butt over to one of their live shows ASAP.

How did you first get into playing music and have you achieved the level of success that you always hoped to achieve?

Ever since we were forcibly ejected from the womb, all of us have had these “urges” that never seemed to go away until we became sonically bonded in the polygamist collective now known as Pink Mass.  In terms of success, it’s as though the pre-cum has only dabbed the tips of our tongue and we are expecting much more to cum.

What’s the most you have ever debased yourself to get Pink Mass onto a show with a band you love or into a magazine, blog or the like? If there isn’t a great story from this particular band, since you all have been playing music for a while, any debasing, embarrassing story will do.

We actually let the US Border Patrol have their way with us at the Canadian border. In exchange for our sexual favors, they would agree to prevent Paroxsihzem (who were set to play the Martyrdoom festival this year) from coming into the country. In their absence, we were allowed to open for the legendary Revenge at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn.

I learned that a “Pink Mass” is a Satanic Ritual in which the deceased’s hetero spirit becomes homosexual. What’s the significance for you guys and are you hoping to achieve homosexual clarity in the post-life or is there any hope for clarity here on earth?

Earth is fucked. There is no hope for clarity on earth and our goal is ultimately to make all of humankind homosexual so that we can accelerate towards its inevitable extinction.

It seems that now everyone has a passion for some cause and that those people are very open about displaying their passions. This is probably a very, very good (and progressive) thing socially. What are some of the most important issues (social/political/humorous/etc.) for you and how do you insert those issues into your music?

Socially we are trying to promote hedonism as a weapon against tyranny to liberate those who have yet to be sexually liberated. Our sound is intended to be a feral reflection of the absolute and total rejection of sexual repression.

What, or who, got you into metal and how old were you? Do you play any instruments or are all your efforts poured directly into your vocal performances?

We were but children when Satan first touched us…

What’s the stickiest you have ever been?

Once we were all chained together (as usual) while playing at a house show and our guitar player Shock leaned into some sort of electrical contraption and got electrocuted. This sparked a chain reaction that travelled through the chains that bound us together, shocking all of the members of the band as we struggled to remove the chains.

What advice do you have for aspiring music critics and outlets out there? How can we all better serve the genre in the eyes of a hard-working musician?

Squeeze your ass into some leather that’s 2 sizes too small and go see the bands in real life. Experience the community for what it really is and don’t judge it solely from the outside.

So you’re the second band I’m asking this too because, well, you took a picture in front of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: Do you picture yourselves enshrined in the Hall one day? And, if so, will you wear bondage masks for your induction ceremony? Speaking of, where do you get those leather goods?

We can proudly say that we’ve already left our mark at the hall of fame…check the bathrooms and you’ll see that we have no intentions of returning nor do we have any regard for aim.

Finally, when you’re not listening to, writing or playing metal, what are some of you favorite albums to listen to currently? (Feel free to include non-metal)

You know those atmospheric cds of rainsticks or whale songs that you get at craft fairs? That shit.

Thanks to Pink Mass for their time! Be sure to check out their new album Slvt Kvlt.
