Ugh. I know. Another morning edition. I screwed up my cadence yesterday and there’s clearly no getting it back this week. And by this week I kind of mean the rest of this month. The mountains beckon, and it’s just about time to pack up the camera…
- We’ll lead off with Equilibrium, who I have not been paying close attention to in recent years despite them providing the sign-off I’ve been using here for… a decade? (Plenty has changed with that band since then.) Anyway, they have a new track out through Nuclear Blast titled “Gnosis”.
- Norwegian doom up next! Funeral shared the second single from Gospel of Bones, their ninth studio album, titled (not a typo/kinda clever!) “Yestertear”. That album gets here on October 18 through Season of Mist.
- Staying on doom, but different. British stoner doomers Elephant Tree have a lot on the stuff on the way. September 6 marks the release of three albums through Magnetic Eye – reissues for Theia and Habits, as well as Handful of Ten, a compilation album featuring new tracks, demos, and b-sides. Whoa. Give “Visions (The Planet of Doom)” a listen, a sample pulled from that compilation.
- Continuing to shift in a… direction. Blue Heron, the desert rockers out of New Mexico, dropped the new single “We Breathe Darkness” yesterday. Everything Fades will be here on September 27 through Blues Funeral Recordings.
- German blackened death metal themed around WWI? Say less. Kanonenfieber released a new single with a music video, titled “Der Maulwurf”, which you can check out below. Their sophomore album, Die Urkatastrophe, is out on September 20 through Century Media.
“Ein Bier… bitte.”
