Hard to believe we’re fast approaching “list” season again. Won’t be long until you can read up on all the good shit you missed this year and believe me when I say 2024 has been a BANG UP year for metal. All across the board, too. Yea, I know there’s like two of you out there being Debbie Downer and that’s ok, feel free to stay under your rock forever. For the rest of us, this was a full year of saying “hell yeah” almost every week. Now, for the matter at hand which is new releases, Mammoth Grinder kick this week’s noise fest off with a bang. I remember being told that Power Trip shared membership here and that was all I needed to go all in on this band and man, what a trip it’s been ever since. Elsewhere, Alkymist gets the lead out of progressive doom…I don’t know about the progressive part but I do know this album kicks major ass so there’s that, next up is Obeyer with some of the best metalcore I’ve heard all year, and rounding out the top slots is Yellfire with their brand of noise meets hardcore but NOT noisecore, just so we’re clear, but in all seriousness this thing would give Today Is The Day a run for the money.
