Ok so, picture this: Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute take over the entire corporate market of the world while Unsane and Fudge Tunnel play, ceremoniously, in the background. If you can picture that in your brain and hear it in your soul then you’re absolutely on to what Arizona’s noise practitioners Bright Sunshine are offering. Their newest album, Executive Power Supreme, is wicked noise rock with “F” you punk attitude and some corporate humor, definitely not something you hear everyday but definitely something you need more of once you do experience it. We wanted to know more so Eric, J, and Chris were kind enough to knock out a word doc in reply. No Teams meetings were involved but I feel like they’d have done it if we promised some ROI. Get to know them directly below and visit the links contained within to show them some support.

Bright Sunshine - Executive Power Supreme

How and when did you first get into playing music, or metal more specifically, and how did your band get its start? Any pushback from family/those close to you?

We all started playing our instruments as teenagers enraptured by aggressive rock music. Our parents had varying reactions, not uniformly positive by any means. After numerous decades of adulthood and near-constant band activity, J and Eric found each other in a rare moment of bandlessness and decided to start jamming on some song ideas. Soon, J invited Chris to contribute some bass and vocals.

How would you describe your band and what you play to someone who is completely in the dark?

We are the sound of when your company committed product delivery to the customer two weeks ago and you’re still pissing in the wind and your boss is sending you a meeting notice to discuss your progress.

Is there one (or more) thing about your latest / upcoming album or about your band that no one will find in any interview or review that you care to divulge?

I don’t really want to say, but if you find it, it will grant you ancient mystical healing powers.

Any funny stories from playing shows / tours / festivals, etc?

We have seen everything from teens moshing to a grown man in business attire shaking his head in disbelief while tossing twenty dollar bills at the stage.

What do you see as some of the great things happening in and around the metal scene (yours or just in general) and what are some of the worst things happening right now?

The best thing happening in the metal scene is that Bright Sunshine has come along to tell the kids to quit smoking drugs in the parking lot and come in, get to work, give 150% to deliver results and achieve success.

Most folks have passions for a cause or causes that are close to them. What, if any, are some of the most important issues (social/political/humorous/etc.) for you / your band and how do you insert those issues into your music?

Our passions are low taxes, zero regulations, fat government contracts, and that hot spinner waitress at the Outback Steakhouse down the road from the regional office.

Do you guys have day jobs or hobbies you want to share?

We work in the fields of office supplies and shipping, higher education, and electronics. We enjoy frosty beverages and cheering on our Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks. That and dominating markets and crushing competition.

What advice do you have for music critics and outlets out there? How can we all better serve the genre in the eyes of a hard-working musician?

Use AI to achieve orders of magnitude growth in content output and expand your empire. Soon the internet will be a huge swelling tumor of AI-written reviews of AI-generated music and all humans can sit by the pool downing prickly pear margaritas all day.

Any specific long term goal(s) in mind?

Play some major festivals, indulge in annual wellness retreats, then retire to heavily guarded palatial estates in the Mediterranean for a couple decades, and then re-form to get some of that sweet reunion cash.

When you’re not obsessing over your own material, what are some of your favorite albums to listen to currently? (Feel free to include non-metal)

Chris: “WAR.” by WHORES. is what’s on the turntable now. “Screaming for Vengeance” and “Stained Class” by Judas Priest both get lots of play and I still can’t decide which one is better.

Eric: I’ve been listening to a lot of Pissed Jeans, Tool and of course the debauchery that is Steely Dan.

J: I’ve been listening to a lot of Chat Pile, Kenmode, 80s hardcore punk and 70s jazz fusion

What is the near future outlook for you or your band? Any specific events on the horizon that the masses should be aware of?

Continue to give 150%. More songs are being written all the time. As long as it’s fun, we’ll keep delivering results.

Summarize your band in one word. (Disclosure: If you use more than one word, we’ll probably just pick our favorite.)

SUCCESS
