The 402nd edition of the Nine Circles Playlist is utterly floored by the tragic death of Brent Hinds. Few guitarists had such a distinct style, his playing could straddle so many different sides of the music spectrum and yet remain singularly his. He had his demons (as do we all), and we all lament the notes that will never be played. So Mastodon and Fiend Without a Face and West End Motel and Legend of the Seagull Men kick off a Hinds-heavy playlist this week. Rest in Power, sir.

Past that the 9C crew brings some more tunes to set your weekend to the rhythm and stomp, including new music from Bask, Old Machines, Sightless Pit, and even some Aesop Rock. But who are we kidding, the rest is all Mastodon. I suspect we’ll be spinning those tunes a lot more over the next few days…
