Metal Monday, all! Hope everyone had a good Halloween weekend. I don’t know that I could have been more ready for a new work week than I was today, which isn’t to say that my weekend was bad, but rather just…completely exhausting. As you may have seen on the tweets, I moved this weekend, which meant lots of packing, trekking between boroughs, unpacking, more trekking between boroughs, and, occasionally, sleep. So hooray for that. I did get to see Diarrhea Planet on Friday night, though, so I won’t complain.
Anyway, since Friday’s Quickies didn’t really ring in Halloween properly with blog content, we wanted to use this edition of Monday Merriment to make amends. I found something on YouTube called “Walt Disney Was A Metal Head,” which took the song “This is Halloween” from The Nightmare Before Christmas and dubbed death growled vocals over the original recording. Take a listen:
More or less exactly what you’d expect, right? Indeed, what I actually find funniest about this is the author’s caption:
“Thank you for watching! We are Walt Disney Was A Metal Head! Re envisioning all the best Disney classics in a metal fashion the way they were meant to be! Leave comments below, keep it Metal!”
“All the best Disney classics” would appear to suggest that this was a longer-term undertaking, that they’d be making a series of this. But nope, a quick look through theblackestofflames‘ video library reveals that this is the only one he (/it? /they?) has actually posted. Not only that, for their only installment of the series, he/it/they used the most obvious possible song choice, which stood to gain probably the least amount of possible hilarity from the addition of death growls. Good thinking, guys!
Anyway, that’s all the criticism I have energy for right now. As theblackestofflames might ungrammatically say, “leave comments below, keep it Metal!”
