Anyway, Corey’s off doing Dark Tranquillity and Insomnium things right now, so I’m in charge of today’s Quickies. And seeing as I’ve got a guest spot to record for the podcast, and a night’s worth of audio editing to do later on, I don’t want to waste any time. Here’s what we missed in the metal world today:

• The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival has added another round of bands to their 2015 lineup, including The Red Chord, Allegaeon and Rivers of Nihil, among others. Goddamn it, did I just lose the ability to make fun of this thing? I think I might have.
• Good news who like to feel like they’re going insane while listening to music: it looks like we can add Sunn O))) to the list of bands who will be releasing a new album sometime this year!
• Ready to blow your collective brains out? Babymetal and DragonForce have apparently written and recorded a song together. God help us all.
• DevilDriver have a new drummer–Austin D’Amond, formerly of Bleed the Sky and Chimaira. I’d tend not to say “good for you” to a guy who just joined DevilDriver, but when you leave Bleed the Sky and Chimaira, I think it’s warranted.
• Oh look, kids–Marilyn Manson‘s still doing things! Things like putting out a new song called “Cupid Carries a Gun.” Aww, that’s cute. Good for you, Brian.
• And finally, here’s a video of a young girl from Indonesia covering Lamb of God‘s “Hourglass” on guitar:
