Mother of Satan, I’m glad this week is done with. Let’s get right into it—it’s Quickies time! Here’s what we missed in the metal world today:
- OLD PEOPLE FIGHTING! Ozzy Osbourne and Bill Ward took shots at each other over why Black Sabbath hasn’t invited Ward back into the fold. Okay, it was probably Sharon posing as Ozzy, but at this point…probably best not get your hopes up for a full reunion any time soon.
- If you live in Boston, good news! Converse is putting on a series of free shows this summer, with acts including Slayer and Doomriders lined up. (Also, if you like non-metal things, Chance the Rapper! The Replacements! Lots of others!) So if you live in Boston, I kinda hate you.
SPEAKING OF BOSTON THINGS: Corey’s running in the Boston Marathon this weekend, and has been working his ass off to raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston. If you haven’t donated, please consider doing so!
- Anyway…Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe is recording some vocals for a North Carolina sludge band called Sourvein. Leading the sessions? None other than Corrosion of Conformity bassist Mike Dean. I don’t really know Sourvein, but I’ll check this out for that reason alone.
- This is never something you want to hear: three fans were killed and several more injured at a Doom show in Santiago, Chile, last night. Please keep everyone in your thoughts here.
- And finally, here’s a video of some guy using a marionette to drum along to “Tom Sawyer,” because you probably haven’t had your recommended daily dose of Rush:
For a little wooden guy, that’s not a bad Neil Peart impression. Anyway, that’ll do it for us. Check back tomorrow for the podcast!
Keep it heavy,
-Dan
