Little bit late on this tonight, so let’s not waste any time–here’s (here are?) your Canto for the day:
- Some unfortunate news from the Great White North: Vancouver trad-metal mainstays 3 Inches of Blood have announced their breakup. The band will regroup for a final homecoming gig, scheduled for early November.
- Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan underwent hip replacement surgery. These things happen when you cross the AARP threshold.
- If you’re a fan of “some special songs” from a “certain Dillinger Escape Plan record,” you may want to catch their upcoming run of shows, as the band will be retiring said songs forever. Thanks for the specificity there, guys.
- Slipknot drummer Shawn “Clown” Crahan thinks his band is “the greatest band in the world. Period. End of story.” Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
- Austin stoner quartet The Sword announced their upcoming fifth album, High Country. The album’s out August 21, and will be supported with a European tour.
- Finally, a new track from Myrkur! Check out “Hævnen” below:
Myrkur’s debut album, M, will be out on Relapse Records on August 21. Good stuff. Anyway, that’ll do it for us. Check back tomorrow for the old you-know-what.
Keep it heavy,
Dan
