The Middle East in Cambridge has become a bit of a home away from home for me over the last couple of years. While I have grown familiar with virtually all of the Boston venues, this particular establishment has been the recent go-to when it comes to concerts. This has proven to be a blessing and a curse. I love the Middle East with its 194 person capacity upstairs… it’s one of the best places to see a show because of it’s up close and personal atmosphere. But at the same time, the lighting and tight spaces makes it’s a pain in the ass to photograph at. But I digress. Keeping the recent trend alive, I ventured back down last Tuesday for The Fellowship of the Strings Tour, featuring Holy Grail, Exmortus, Spellcaster, and Seven Spires as the local opener this evening.
While most of my concert reviews are extensive written pieces about each and every band that performed, I’m going to go in a different direction with this one. I will let you know that the combination of thrash, power, and classic heavy metal between all these bands (except for Holy Grail — I left early because I don’t care about them and it was a week night) was an absolute blast. All brought the energy, had a ton of fun with the audience, and made for one of the most entertaining shows I’ve been to all year. I’m not the most familiar with any of these bands, just casual listening from time to time, but there’s no question that this show was simple a blast. If you attended this show, you’ll know what I mean. And if you didn’t but still have a chance to, I encourage you make that happen. But for now, instead of wasting your time with a bunch of boring words and stuff, I’m simply going to share some of the images I managed to capture of each band.
