Good morning, it’s time to metal. Here’s some news you might have missed from yesterday:

  • Leading off…break out your wallets and your splooge: Tool announced a 10-date tour through the northeast U.S. and Canada. The tour will begin in May, and that smell you’re sensing is a cauldron of new-album rumors that will be heated to a nice boil between now and then.
  • Speaking of tour dates, Astronoid announced a series of headlining shows in April and May, bookending their upcoming trek supporting Ghost Bath. Tickets are available here. And this just in: we don’t care if you don’t consider them metal. Nobody cares.
  • Marduk guitarist Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson has offered his thoughts on the recent cancellation of the band’s show in Oakland over public safety concerns. (Read: because Antifa.) Presenting without comment, because… a. I really don’t care about Marduk, and b. I really, really don’t care what the internet would have to say in response. NEXT!
  • Remember Jesper Strömblad from good In Flames? (Okay, I guess he was still there when they started to become bad In Flames, too.) Welp, he and fellow former-good/bad-In Flames member Peter Iwers have a new project called CyHra (capitalization theirs) that’s begun recording a new album. Color us interested?
  • A little less than three years after supposedly calling it quits, Nachtmystium has, apparently, been booked for Louisville Deathfest. For now, anyway.
  • You guys, I’m beginning to think Paul Ravenwood doesn’t sleep. Noisey is streaming his seventh album as Twilight Fauna (which has only existed for six years) ahead of its release on March 24. What’s more, our own Josh Thieler drums on the record!
  • And finally, Crypt Sermon dropped a doom-laden cover of the title track from Mayhem’s De Mysteriis Dom Sathanasas part of Decibel magazine’s flexi series. They call it “De Mysteriis Doom Sathanas,” and you can (and should) check it out below:

So, I kind of love that. Anyway, that’ll do it for now, but check back this time tomorrow for our next edition!

Keep it heavy,
Dan
