Exclusive Stream: Sun of the Sleepless – “Forest Crown”

SOTS - ToTheElements_2000x2000

Happy Wednesday to you all! Today we are pleased to bring you a brand new track from the dark ambient project known as Sun of the Sleepless. The one-man German project is set to release To The Elements on July 21st and with just over a month to go before this album drops, one of the album’s more entrancing moments is available for streaming just after the jump. “Forest Crown” is a quick-hitter worth getting lost in so I encourage you to give it a listen below.

Stemming from the mind of Schwadorf, who has also given us The Vision Bleak and Empyrium, To The Elements is a poetic black metal ride filled with ambiance and gloom and “Forest Crown” highlights one of the foundational concepts of this album. Spanning under three minutes, it is a brief journey through the mysterious summoning nature of what defines Sun of the Sleepless. Hollow, bellowing percussion guide the hauntingly clean vocals from one instrumental phrase to the next. The acoustic guitars mesh brilliantly with the personality of the song and it gives us a few minutes of peaceful solitude in the midst of what proves to be a rather complex overall listen of an album. Check it out here:

While we still have some weeks yet to pass before To The Elements is officially released, I can attest to the impressive passages that stem from Sun of the Sleepless’ latest. This album (and project as a whole) is a brilliant combination of ambiance and black metal. We are offered plenty of dark intensity within the more thought provoking moments inspired by the track above. It’s a tremendous journey of sound that is both immensely burdening and inspiring. Basically, I can’t get enough of it.
