Hey all! Coming in juuuuust under the wire — and by that, I mean, “Hi! It’s ten ’til 6 AM and I’m just starting to write this post!” — is this week’s edition of Cursed Imagery. But don’t think we’ll be skimping on you. Oh, no. We’ve got seven highlights from this week’s new release crop to bring your way: some good, some bad, all memorable. So let’s jump in and take a look!
Acranius — The Echo of Her Cracking Chest
First off: dig the vaguely Uruk-Hai looking person overseeing the dismemberment here on the cover. Second off: you’ll notice that this is the cover of the “Anniversary Edition” of this album. The eighth anniversary. Eighth. Are we gonna get a box set for the 17th anniversary, too?
Wasted — Electrified
So, when I was a kid, I had this recurring dream about a gigantic floating jack-o-lantern that would float around in the sky terrorizing whole towns while also rendering me completely unable to speak. This reminds me of that. So…hooray?
In Sanity — Welcome to the Show
Is anyone else seeing “undead cyborg Jason Statham” in this image, or is that just me?
Temple ov Perversion — Temple ov Perversion
I, uh… what?
Gruzja — Jeszcze nie mamy na was pomysłu
There is something, just…so unsettling about all of this. It’s like if Tubthumper was an extreme metal album.
Mantra — Medium
Genuinely like this one. The offsetting red and black coloring is pleasing to the eye, plus the texturing of the… leaves? Is that what those are meant to be? …is delightful. Good on ya, Mantra. Good on ya.
Redshark — Evil Realm
Hoooooly shit, that’s game over, ladies and gents. Cursed Imagery has a new champion. And I, for one, welcome our new Redshark overlords.
That’s all for this edition. Check back next week for more album artwork ridiculousness!
