CURSED IMAGERY: The Week in Album Art (November 15, 2019)

cursed imagery

Happy Friday! We’ve got some albums for you, and I may or may not have some things to say about them! While you dig into those, I’m gonna go wait for the mailman like an anxious dog, because I’ve got my copy of Pokemon Shield coming today and I’m very eager to play it. (No, I’m not one of the dorks who feels personally attacked by the fact that the new games cut whatever percentage of the nearly one-thousand entirely digital creatures who have no basis in reality.)

Anyway, enjoy the snark!

[ In Mute ] — Chaos Breeder

Oooh! Oooh! Speaking of Pokemon, I’ve got one for this!

Er-hem…

Come Clarity evolved into Chaos Breeder — it’s not very effective…”

Ignivomous — Hieroglossia

So… I have some questions. What horror movie did we pluck this kid and his dead eyes out of? Is that an octopus tentacle on the left of the ghost / weed smoke thing? Because it looks like Mardi Gras beads. Is the kid inhaling or projectile vomiting said weed smoke thing? Very confused by all this.

Stellar Descent — Moss

Well… I can say with certainty that there is moss in this photo. I’ll give them that.

Bad Men — Bong Weasley

The title “Bong Weasley” earns a legitimate lol from me. The album cover… does not.

Bombus — Vulture Culture

Man, I’m so torn on this one. On the one hand, those neon aesthetics hit me right in the synthwave feels. On the other, this Costco-brand Daft Punk look they have going on… don’t ask me why, but I’ve got a sneaking suspicion these guys are massive dorks. Still, I think I might love it?

Witch Trail — The Sun Has Left the Hill

No snark on this one, folks; I just really enjoy this thing.

That’ll do it for this edition, but stay tuned for more album art ridiculousness next week. Not too many more of these left this year, so make sure you send in any nominations for our Best (Worst?) of 2019 edition! Until then…

Dan
