On August 26, German based MIGHT will be releasing their second album titled Abyss, but today we’re excited to bring you their second video from that release, “Shrine.” As their previous release showed this band to be incredibly explosive, this track substantially builds on that. Nine Circles is proud to unveil this video premiere immediately below.

Doom and post-rock are where MIGHT finds themselves on PR paper, but “Shrine” adds sludge, garage rock, death screams, and some serious heft to the tags du jour. The choice here to film the video as a live performance in a smoke filled and dark room was an excellent one, it fits the sounds, tones, and moods of the single and adds an edge to it that I don’t think they would’ve gotten any other way. Think of it as being front row at a rock show and having your ass kicked in by the performance…pretty much sums it up. Bassist and vocalist Ana Muhi commented on the track: “The song is about appropriation, ownership, and dependencies on the one hand and the understanding of being able to have more self determination than one thinks on the other hand.”

Abyss was recorded, mixed, and mastered by the band which makes it completely their vision from cradle to grave. Refreshing, to say the least as it exudes the blood, sweat, and tears put into it. The amalgam of styles on display gel seamlessly and the band simply rocks, for lack of a better word (no better word for it though). We don’t have long to wait for the release, but we’ve got this to tide us over until then. In the meantime, jam the above track on repeat as loud as possible and gaze upon that beautifully stunning album art.
As a reminder, Abyss will be available August 26 via Exile On Mainstream and the band’s Bandcamp page. Visit their official website and Facebook page to keep up with all things MIGHT.
