Three times this week the Earth set an unofficial heat record. In the US alone the last saw more than 1,000 records broken for temperature. MORE THAN A THOUSAND. If I had an ounce of religion left in me I’d be sure it’s a sign of the Rapture. As it is I’ll just take it as more proof that humanity continues to stick its head in the sand thinking the dark and cool will chase away encroaching disaster.

The 292nd edition of the Nine Circles Playlist kicks off with a band I never heard of called Nospūn who seems adept at carrying the progressive/power torch to enjoyable effect. Other than that I’ve been listening to a ton of Pink Floyd bootlegs so I’ll leave it to the staff to fill in the playlist this week with cuts from Werewolves, Dying Fetus, Iotunn, Witch Ripper, Between the Buried and Me, new Laster and 夢遊病者/Sleepwalker (thank the heavens), Beak>, Soft Cell, some classic Voivod and…what the hell: another Nospūn track to bring some symmetry into this thing.
