Coming in with something a bit different in these middle stages of the week! But different is good. Weird is good. We like both. The London-based industrial-electronic outfit Pink Panther Project released their debut album Intoxicating Embrace back in September through The Circle Music and Marian Whores. Today, Nine Circles is proud to present their new video for “Scream”, taken from that release. If you need to catch up, the full album can be streamed here. Lock that in, and then check out the visual interpretation of “Scream” immediately after the jump.

For some further background, Pink Panther Project was formed in London only last year. However, they have steadily gained some attention for the unique blend of styles we’re hearing above. It’s an encompassing sound. The industrial dance structure is truly intoxicating indeed – it inspires movement – but it also feels emotionally complex. It’s heavy. It’s just a heavy we don’t (speaking personally) explore with regularity. The pace is steady, letting the various layers work and build with intention. And the impact is apparent. It leaves a mark, but because of the stylistic qualities it holds it is also really hard to turn away from.

Visually, this concept fits as well. It’s a modern sound I align with urban scenes. Not neon lights and energy, but rather the muted personality of the concrete and shadows. Those moments where time seems to slow down amidst chaos, when you find yourself with a broader, more abstract perspective on the surroundings. As such, I find myself really appreciating the seemingly straightforward depiction of this music, recognizing the complexities we’re able to pull out on our own as a viewer. All told, this is a fascinating project I find myself easily immersed in and it’s going to result in repeated visits as time marches forward.
