ritual grim

Profiles are normally a once a week, or even once every other week, type of post. But today we have a SPECIAL HALLOWEEN EDITION.

Ritual Grim splits his time between working for Satan himself (he was recently promoted to Death) and writing for Nine Circles. He’s the first Nine Circles writer to be profiled because, let’s face it, his life (which is eternal and began before time) is really, really interesting. So with that in mind, we asked him a few pretty standard questions just to get a better glimpse of what his daily activities include.

How did you first get into writing and reporting and have you achieved all your wildest dreams that you set out to achieve?

Writing is a mere sole  activity on a long List of things to occupy my Time. When one is Immortal, one must delve deeply into the arts to express clearly the Darknesse within.

What’s the most you have ever debased yourself to get a promo, guest list, soul or interview that you really cared about?

I do not understand the Question, and I won’t respond to It.

Of all the souls and mortal beings you have murdered, which was the most fulfilling and why? What’s your favorite method of delivering death?

That which brings the most Joy is robbing a child of their pathetic little lives. They would have grown up to be a useless sack of festering skin and therefore I am doing the Mortal World a great service by removing the pestilence one Tot at a time.

What are some of the most important issues (social/political/humorous/etc.) for you and how do you insert those issues into your writing and other work as a demon/necromancer/torturer/sodomizer/etc.?

It is Most Important to impress the  Futility of the humans’ deplorable and feeble Existences. The sooner all of you commit suicide, the better everything will be. This is a common Thread woven in all the work that I do.

Living forever, you have probably been witness to some hellacious battles. I assume you were even on the field for a few. What was the best battle or war you were able to participate in and why?

The most Memorable battle I have ever witnessed was definitely the Battle of Kalinga, in 262 B.C. Nearly 100,000 perished in the fighting and I stood triumphantly with my arms raised, Laughing into the night as I fed on the lost Souls. That single Battle, and the years of misery and lost lives, nourished me for Centuries to come.

What’s the stickiest you have ever been?

In a moment of Weakness and Boredom in the 1980s, I attempted to make the abomination popularly known as Rice Krispie Squares. The foul substance got everywhere and I have hence banished ‘Marshmallow’ from my dwelling, with prejudice, forthwith.

What advice do you have for aspiring soul snatchers out there? How can someone become in league with Satan (and I’m not referring to the Venom track)?

To truly be in League with The Dark One, you must end your life immediately. There is nothing Satan Himself appreciates more than a truncated life that he can then command for eternity within the Fires of his Hell.

What’s it like living in the underworld? Are there any perks? Does it get too hot? What’s your ideal temperature and humidity level? Do you have any hobbies?

It smells of fresh Brimstone which I personally cannot get enough of. The Fires could rage day and night at Inferno levels and it will never get too hot for these Immortal bones and bloodless Veins.

When the urge overtakes me, I will pick up a Camera and document the slow torture and eventual Death of a young Female devotee. The final images are something I collect and cherish.

You can gaze upon the photo I have attached. It’s a “selfie” although I am draped in finery as I am unphotographable in my natural state. The photo was taken using the self-timer on my Yashica-Mat LM. Settings:  f1.4, ISO1600, 1/30s. Which is my go to camera despite owning others. For example, a Leica M6 a Pentax K1000 a Yashika T4 (which I love for Landscaping) and a Mamiya 645 (which any serious craftsman should own).

Finally, what are some of your favorite not-metal listening favorites?

When One must take a break from the harsh Noises of modern music, it is always a splendid idea to reach for the classics. Oud music of the Middle East, some Beethoven Sonatas, and as always — the panicked screams of dying children.

Much thanks to the infernal one for his time!
