We made it through another week. And, are now head first into the next. Reggie Jackson once said “A baseball swing is a very finely tuned instrument. It is repetition, and more repetition, then a little more after that.” This ain’t baseball but it is a crap ton more metal each week so let’s get some more of THAT repetition.

Both Abbath and Immortal Bird have new albums out this week and putting one over the other was tough, really tough. The former turns in a solid and grandiose rock star performance while the latter has truly come into their own…just get them both is my advice. Elsewhere, Hex offers up hard hitting death / doom and 3Teeth crank the gears of industrial metal with aplomb. Annnnd, we’re far from done. There’s so many albums you’ll want to pick up this week so go ahead and apologize to that last bit of dust in the ol’ wallet right now.

One response to “Initial Descent: June 30 – July 6, 2019”

  1. […] Welcome back to another edition of Embracing the Descent. Miss us? Rhetorical question of course. It has been a minute so as a refresher or if it’s your first visit, we briefly discuss a handful of this week’s new releases that stood out for whatever reason and maybe, from time to time, a week behind. We won’t be hitting everything because a 40 – 60 entry piece ain’t happening and seriously, who’s got that kind of time. Head below to see what’s got our knickers in a bunch and don’t forget to check out the full listing from Monday’s Initial Descent. […]
