Attention. The 291st edition of the Nine Circles Playlist isn’t looking to change you…not completely, anyway. We are here to welcome you to a wider world. One where everyone talks about the same twelve or thirteen bands over and over again, agreeing on the excellence of records that really sound like the same stuff that’s been coming out for decades. Let your mind swirl, tapioca-like into the conformity community of the online metal world. It’s okay, really: none of us can decipher the lyrics, either.
I kid. Or maybe not, I don’t know at this point. I do know I’m into news of new Gridlink and Chepang. I’m digging the new album from Static Abyss. The new single Panopticon actually sounds produced as opposed to a wash of reverb and roar that made no sense on the last two albums. I miss Nachtmystium even as I can admit what a dirtbag Blake Judd turned out to be. I hope he gets his act together one day – it won’t stop me from listening to the Black Meddle albums. There’s a lot of long songs on this one, but I removed one because we had it on here two weeks ago. I don’t know, I guess I’m getting tired. There’s also music from Wyrgher, Årabrot, and Deadly Carnage but I haven’t heard them. I trust the staff though to tell me they’re worth a listen.
Get listening. Stay safe. The world tips and maybe there’s a next week we’ll see you in. Who knows?
