We celebrated Thanksgiving in the US this week. You can argue the pros and cons around its marking, regardless of where you land I will tell you I am so, so thankful for the glut of incredible music to come out this year, genre be damned. My list this year is going to give zero f–ks around length; I want to shout out and champion everything that made my year even an iota more bearable. Like Tribal Gaze, who I just discovered has a new split out and the music is as ferocious as ever. Or Ulver, who steadily released single after single until lo and behold: Liminal Animals has arrived.

Lot to be thankful for, is what I’m saying. And the rest of the 9C gang give thanks with their own musical offerings, including new and old alike. Where else are you going to find The Police backed by The Contortionist? Feel the darkness of Below The Sun and Crippled Black Phoenix while also raging out to Dawn Treader and Fluids? Prog gets a little nod with Coheed and Cambria, and The Body drops like a sludgy thud for extra emphasis. And what the hell, maybe some old crushing death and grind from the likes of Death of a Deity to close it out.
