A week late but when the world is ending you’ll forgive us a few days…but we’re back for Episode 203 and the AOTM podcast! The Battle Royale rages on as Chris joins Ian, Colin, and Vince to pitch their candidates to this month’s benevolent overlord Angela for October’s coveted title. But only one can ever leave the cage, and this month it’s Cool World, the sophomore full length from hardcore noise rock slingers Chat Pile snagging the crown and scepter and standing tall on the dais with the title of Album of the Month for October.
Once again the gang comes forth with candidates, this time under the watchful gaze of Angela. But although strong arguments were put forth for the avant-black metal of Doedsmaghird, the exploratory and modern melodic black metal of Gaerea, and the ripping, quite possibly AOTY contender Blood Incantation the rose could only be gifted to one. And that one was Chris with his pick of Chat Pile and their sledgehammer classic in the making Cool World, which ups the ambition and stands as the voice for the rage and raw pain of a global space far greater than their native Oklahoma.
