Good morning, it’s time to metal. Here’s some news you might have missed from yesterday:
-
- Leading off with some sad news: Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington died yesterday of an apparent suicide. He was just 41. Rest in peace.
-
- Next up, Wolves in the Throne Room and Pillorian have announced a tour. Woulda been a lot cooler if they’d done this while Agalloch was still a thing, but I guess we’ll take what we can get.
-
- Myrkur dropped another new song called “Shadows of Silence.” It’s not going to be on Mareridt, but it is in English, so…cool?
-
- Danzig is teaming up with Deafheaven and [whatever the hell a Vamps is] for a quick run of tour dates on the West Coast. And by quick, I mean, like, three shows. So if you’re in San Francisco, Vegas or Tempe, hooray for you!
- And finally, Ensiferum dropped a new song called “For Those About to Fight for Metal.” Yes, that’s really the title. But you know what? The song’s kinda fun! Take a listen below:
The band’s upcoming album, Two Paths, drops September 15 via Metal Blade. It’ll be their fifth full-length since Jari Mäenpää left the band in 2004. (For those keeping score at home, Jari’s released fewer than 20 songs since then. Songs.)
Anyway, that’ll do it for now — check back soon for our next edition!
Keep it heavy,
Dan
