Behemoth

July 10, 2017

Good morning, it’s time to metal. Yes, this thing still exists. Here’s some metal stuff you might have missed from…recently:

    • As per usual, a whole bunch of bands dropped new music over the weekend, including SkyeaterHeresiarch and more. Check out Josh’s recap for the full list.
    • Behemoth drummer Inferno is going to be sitting out the band’s upcoming tour with Slayer to go do dad stuff. Understandable. Congrats to him. Filling in will be Jon Rice, formerly of Job for a Cowboy. I’m okay with this because of the formerly in that sentence.

    • In a recent interview with Mulatschag (come again???), Gojira drummer Mario Duplantier revealed the band is still working on their long-awaited, previously-thought-shelved EP, Sea Shepherd. Yes. Yes, that is good.
    • Also in Interviews with Bizarrely-Titled Metal OutletsNile mastermind Karl Sanders told MetalWani that the band will be working with Erik Rutan on their forthcoming album. This seems like a logical pairing, and yet, it’s only happened once before?
    • The folks at Metal Insider crunched the numbers on the top-selling hard rock and metal albums of 2017, and I think the biggest takeaway here is that they somehow consider Incubus and Linkin Park to be “hard rock and metal.” Sorry, go directly to metal blog jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
    • Inquisition announced a US tour with Uada and Volahn. Dates are here. Get on it if they’re coming your way.
    • Whores have been added as an opening act on Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas’ North American tour. It fucking kills me that I’ll be away at school during this.
  • And finally, here’s a minute-or-so-long clip of a new Wintersun song, because here we are, five years removed from Time I, and that’s still all Jari can give us:

Honestly, dude’s vinegar-strokes guitar playing face is probably the most entertaining thing about that. Anyway, that’ll do it for now — check back soon for our next edition!

Keep it heavy,
Dan
