CANTO: Ensiferum, Summoning The Lich, Trelldom, and More

Alright, so I’ll admit today was marginally better than yesterday. Aside from the fact that it’s hotter than Satan’s taint of course.

  • Kicking things off, we have new stuff from Summoning The Lich. Their sophomore album, Under the Reviled Throne, is out on July 16 through Prosthetic Records and today they shared “Return to the Soil”.
  • Trelldom, the black metal brainchild of Gaahl, set September 13 as the release date for …by the shadows… That will be out through Prophecy Productions and you can see a visualizer for “Between the World” here.
  •  Extinction A.D. dropped a new track featuring Matthew Kiichi Heafy, titled “Impervious (Unrepentant)”. Their new album, To The Detested, gets here on August 16 through Unique Leader.
  • Oceans of Slumber offered up the second single from Where Gods Fear to Speak, titled “Poem of Ecstasy”. That new album, by the way, is out September 13 through Season of Mist.
  • Let’s close out by fighting this heat with the latest from Ensiferum. Winter Storm, the new album from the folk metal veterans, arrives on October 18 through Metal Blade Records. Check out the video for “Winter Storm Vigilantes” below.

CANTO: Lorna Shore, Ulcerate, The Hope Conspiracy, and More

And it’s officially hot out. Not quite too hot, but we’re getting close.

  • Here’s an intriguing tour. Lorna Shore are headlining a run in September and October, where they’ll be joined by Whitechapel, Kublai Khan TX, and Sanguisugabogg. Better still, they’ll be performing Pain Remains in its entirety.
  • New England Metal & Hardcore Festival announced a fresh batch of bands have been added to the bill, including Emmure, Xibalba, and Peeling Flesh. That event takes place on September 21 and 22 in Worcester, MA at The Palladium.
  • Next up, a new track from The Hope Conspiracy, titled “Live in Fear”. That beast of a single is taken from Tools of Oppression / Rule by Deception, which is out on May 31 through Deathwish Inc.
  • Summoning The Lich announced a new album, Under The Reviled Throne, which arrives on July 26 through Prosthetic Records. Check out the leading single, “My Horrors Unending”, right now.
  • You know what we should all be getting ready for? Cutting the Throat of God, the new album from Ulcerate. It’s out on June 14 through Debemur Morti Productions, and it’s going to be incredible. For the latest dose of new material, check out the video for “To See Death Just Once” below. That’s the final installment of a video triptych from Dehn Sora.

CANTO: Suicide Silence, Distant, Unfelled, and More

Why hasn’t my copy of Foregone shipped yet?

  • I’m bookending this list with Century Media happenings. First, we have a new track from Distant which features Will Ramos of Lorna Shore. Give “Heritage” a listen here. That’s the title track from their new album, which is officially released this coming Friday.
  • Out of the Season of Mist camp, we have a new track from Unfelled, the black metal project featuring members of Woods of Desolation, Drudkh, and Austere. Give “Veil of Perdition” a listen here. Their debut full-length, Pall of Endless Perdition, is out on March 10.
  • French technical death metallers Gorod are releasing The Orb on March 7, right ahead of a North American tour featuring the likes of Cognitive, Summoning The Lich, and Flub.
  • Veil of Maya dropped a new track today through Sumerian Records titled “Godhead”. Give the video for that a watch here. They’ve got some tour dates in the near-ish future as well.
  • Let’s close out with the new video from Suicide Silence for “Dying Life”. That track is taken from Remember… You Must Die, which is set for a March 10 release through Century Media. But I’m sure you already knew that.

CANTO: Elder, Denouncement Pyre, Opeth, and More

Alright, after a few days away, we’re right back at it.

  • Denouncement Pyre, a favorite from years past, have a new album set for a June 17th release. Forever Burning will be available through Agonia Records. Pre-orders are available here.
  • This is a tour I will definitely check out. Elder are hitting the road in August and September with support from Dreadnought, Ruby The Hatchet, and Belzebong. All those dates can be found here, and I can say with confidence that I will either be at the Boston or Vermont date… or both.
  • Apparently Allegaeon is going to spend the entirety of 2022 on the road. Not a bad thing. The Terrestrial Takeover Tour, which was originally planned for 2020, will now cover June 1st through July 1st. Support will come from Arkaik, Aenimus, and Summoning The Lich.
  • Opeth are streaming a new track, “Width Of A Cirlce”, which is taken from the extended edition of In Cauda Venenum. That edition features three previously unreleased bonus tracks, in both English and Swedish. Cool stuff.
  • Any interest in checking out the entirety of the Crown performance for Roadburn Redux? Because now you can. The whole thing is available for your viewing pleasure below.

CANTO: Iotunn, Summoning The Lich, Culted, and More

Oh look, America broke. Who could have EVER seen this coming?? Anyway. 2/26 seems to be a popular date in today’s announcements…

  • Summoning The Lich just signed on to a deal with Prosthetic Records back in October, and today have announced details surrounding their debut album. The fantasy-themed death metal crew out of St. Louis will release United In Chaos on February 26th. Check out that clip for “The Nightmare Begins” while you’re at it.
  • Iotunn, the progressive metal band out of Denmark, have unveiled new album details. Access All Worlds will also be out on February 26th, through Metal Blade Records. Today, they released a new single for “Voyage of the Garganey I”, which can be heard at that link as well.
  • We’re still paying tribute to Alexi Laiho at Nine Circles, so let’s pause here and take a few minutes to watch this cover of “Downfall”. That clip includes members of Immortal Guardian, Helion Prime, and Oceans Of Slumber.
  • Blackened industrial doom project Culted are releasing a new album on, you guessed it, February 26th through Season of Mist, titled Nous. You can pre-order that here. Check out the new video for “Black Bird” immediately below.
