Happy February, all. Everyone here at Nine Circles is sick, bogged down with work, or shutting themselves off from the madness of the world…some of us might even be doing all three of those things. Thank god I can at least revel in a new Dream Theater which despite the naysayers is a thematically consistent return to form, even though I don’t quite get all the love “Dead Asleep” is getting. Maybe you can decide for your yourself since it kicks off the 374th edition of the Nine Circles Playlist.

You know what else came out? New -(16)-, y’all! And a lot of us on staff are over the moon at the announcement of a new Tómarúm album forthcoming. There’s new Revocation and Benediction and Nauseating to whet your death metal appetite, classic Immortal to chase the black metal blues away, and a whole lot more stuff I chucked in there (mainly progressive metal like Teramaze and Lunar) that I guarantee is heavy and full of all the metals, even the ones that’ll turn your skin grey and leave you with weird, uncontrollable powers…

CANTO: Ov Sulfur, Mental Cruelty, Eternal Storm, and More

Monday tends to be a little quieter, but let’s see what we can dig up from the inbox.

Ov Sulfur and Mental Cruelty announced a co-headlining North American run next February and into March, with Ghost Bath and Extermination Dismemberment joining them as well. Tickets are on sale now here.
Progressive death metal crew Eternal Storm are releasing their sophomore effort, A Giant Bound to Fall, on February 16 through Transcending Obscurity. “A Dim Illusion” is streaming over on Bandcamp if you want an early preview.
Immortal Guardian dropped a new lyric video for “Unite And Conquer” recently. That’s the title-track from their recently released new album, which is available through M-Theory Audio and Massacre Records.
How about some Swedish hardcore punk? Ett Dödens Maskineri dropped a new track titled “Högerspöket”, taken from their upcoming second album. Kulturkriget is set for a November 28 release through Suicide Records.
And we’ll wrap up Monday with Mourn the Light. Give the video for “We Are The Light” a watch below, a new single taken from their upcoming four way split with Ice Howl, High Priest, and Archdruid.

CANTO: Creeping Death, Ingested, Attila, and More

Coming at you a little late. Another one of THOSE days.

Creeping Death is supporting Boundless Domain on the road this Summer, with North American dates throughout June and July. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. Their highly anticipated new album is set for a June 16 release through MNRK Heavy.
Attila dropped a new single, “Bite Your Tongue”, if you’re in need of a little metalcore in your day. A visualizer for that one can be seen here. They’ve got some live dates in May coming up as well.
If you can’t wait until tomorrow, Defiled are streaming The Highest Level in full a day early. Give is a listen here. That one is out… will be out… through Season of Mist.
Closing out we have one of my favorites, Ingested, with a new clip for “With Broken Wings”. That track, of course, is taken from Ashes Lie Still, which is out through Metal Blade. Their North American headline tour, where they’ll be joined by Devourment, Extermination Dismemberment, and Organectomy, kicks off next week.

CANTO: Oceanlord, Unearth, Lord of the Lost, and More

Does Twitter still work? Does anybody care? We certainly don’t.

Leading off, we have the latest from Unearth. With the release of The Wretched; The Ruinous about a month away, they unveiled the latest from that effort, titled “Into the Abyss”. Check out the video for that here. As a reminder, that album drops May 5 through Century Media.
Germany’s Eurovision Song Contest 2023 representatives Lord of the Lost dropped a video for “Forever Lost”. Give that a watch and listen here. Blood & Glitter is available through Napalm Records.
Denver death metal trio Cronos Compulsion are dropping a new EP on May 12 through Caligari Records, titled Malicious Regression. Preorder that, and give “Morbid Subconscious Explorations” a listen, right here.
Extermination Dismemberment, the slamming death metal collective out of Minsk, are dropping Dehumanization Protocol on May 5 through Unique Leader. Check out the beastly new track, “Corpsepit”, here.
Let’s close with something doomy. Below is the new video from Oceanlord for “Come Home”. That’s the second track from their forthcoming new album, Kingdom Cold, which drops on May 26 through Magnetic Eye.

CANTO: Nite, Dying Fetus, Ingested, and More

I actually feel like I accomplished something today… weird for a Monday.

Couple tours to highlight today. First we have Dying Fetus and Suicide Silence co-headlining a tour with support from Born of Osiris, Aborted, Sanguisugabogg, and more. Those dates run from April 7 through April 30, and tickets go on sale this coming Friday,
And then Nite announced a tour that had me really excited at first… until I realized it was a hilariously termed California world tour that only includes four dates in February. They’ll be supported by Persekutor. I am extremely jealous of anyone that can make one of these dates. Nite rules.
The last tour that emerged today will feature Ingested, supported by Devourment, Extermination Dismemberment, and Organectomy. Those dates start May 4th in Brooklyn, and wrap up a month later in Cambridge. That lineup is going to be bonkers. Tickets can be found at this link.
We’ll move forward with some German sludge. Obelyskkh revealed the video for the title-track from their new album over at The Obelisk. The Ultimate Grace Of God is out on January 27 through Exile On Mainstream Records.
Finally, a new video from Sanhedrin for “Scythian Women” can be found below. That track is taken from Lights On, which dropped last March through Metal Blade.

Content is weirdly light for a Friday, which is the only reason I’m dropping this in.

I’ve heard some folks chatting about Battle Beast somewhat recently, so we can start there. Their new single, “Tempest of Blades”, is streaming now. Circus of Doom was a release from earlier this year, but today they unveiled a bonus version… hence the new single.
One of the more notable release today was The Agony & Ecstasy Of Watain, which is out through Nuclear Blast. So, on that note, we should all check out the new live video for “Ecstasies in Night Infinite”. Watain is awesome.
Interested in a little slamming brutal death metal in your Friday? If so, here’s some new stuff from Extermination Dismemberment, titled “Agony Incarnate”. That new single is available through Unique Leader.
Hey, here’s something I want to attend. Post. Festival 2022 will feature the likes of Pelican, Boris, Junius, and a lot of other things I like. The event takes place the weekend of September 9th in Indianapolis. Tickets can be acquired here.
There’s a new Rammstein album out today that I need to listen to. Do I think Zeit will live up to their last effort? I can’t imagine it would because that album was incredible. Regardless, we’ll wrap up the week with the gnarly video for “Angst”.
